Revolutionary, bold, down-to-earth. Radically different, TOOB was born out of need and intuition. Less weight is a megatrend. Neo speakers and micro amps have closed the performance gap against traditional gear, while weighing a fraction. However, a plywood cabinet remains what it is: heavy and acoustically far from ideal. We set out to replace it - Thinking Out Of the Box, quite literally.
TOOB's unique features include bespoke clamping rims, which hold the assembly together, and a dock for attaching a micro-amp with hook-and-loop fasteners. A thick elastic gasket isolates the speaker from the shell. A bespoke heavy-duty metal grill protects the speaker. The removable leg of the METRO series is made of stainless steel, while our innovative magnetic plywood leg is standard on larger models. Overall, we have made some 20 product innovations. As well, we have developed our own working methods and proprietary tooling.
The overall design and several key features are protected EU-wide and additionally by a Finnish Utility Model Right. TOOB is a registered trademark.
Our speakers come from leading manufacturers and can be found inside boutique cabinets costing and weighing a multiple. We use trusted international suppliers for hardware such as handles and electrical connectors. A close network of local partners is responsible for wooden parts and metal components. We finish the components, do much of the nitty-gritty, including wire sets, and hand assemble and test each unit.
We have nothing to hide about our environmental and ethical footprint. TOOB has an indefinitely long lifespan, further supported by excellent serviceability. Changing the speaker is a matter of minutes. The compact size and light weight matter in logistics and everyday use, not to mention the owner's obvious health benefits. The shell material is recyclable and certified for RoHS compliance. TOOB also meets the CE criteria.
Corrugated, double-wall drainage pipe is an abundant, internationally standardized material, tested to withstand 8 tons of ground pressure per square meter. The body or shell of our current models is made from 200 mm or 315 mm high-quality polypropylene (PP) pipe, mass produced by the industry leader Uponor® in Finland. Its finely textured, scratch-resistant surface needs no finish or treatment.
